boyfriend makeover spring 2011 style

I don't usually pay much attention to the menswear shows--sometimes glancing at the trend recaps even makes my cringe a little. But there was one thing that caught my eye this season in a good way: neon colors and color-blocking. And my favorite incarnation of the trend was...

THE STANDOUT BLAZER

It might not be the most novel idea for the ladies (remember my Workwear Wednesday awhile back?), but for a not-so-into-fashion boy like mine, it's an easy, effortless way to really update an otherwise casual and semi-boring look. Plus while the classic blazer was my favorite, menswear for spring '11 seems to be centered around the third-WOW-piece in general, whether it's a blazer, vest, or toggle coat. Whatever the topper is, add color, print or stripes and it can make the outfit.

I just love easy trends for even the most fashion-savvy-less males... (Smelly, I'm talking to you!) Get that WOW factor!

John would love all of these outfits. We just went shopping for tank tops and shorts for him - he didn't own a pair of shorts before this shopping trip haha except for workout ones... he has skinny calves ;) but he looks pretty cute! It was hard finding a balance between long/short and not old-mannish though. God, there were some horrid shorts out there...

Wow, all those looks are jsut fantastic! Colour blocking for men is a definite yes in my book (especially if they can make it look as good as these guys).

As for my look, I just tucked in the shirt and made sure to belt it exactly where the harem trousers and shirt connected. (it took a while to get it exactly right, especially when I need the bathroom after some beers..)
