I think I need to up my "power dressing" for summer or, likely, in general. But how can I answer the riddle of our unwritten dress code? It's more fashion than professional. It's more trend than classic. It's also -drum roll- on a budget. So what's a gal to do?
I've decided that my office dress code role model should be a little style icon named Lucy Laucht.
She's really a girl after my own heart. I've always said I prefer to dress somewhat plainly and play up the third piece [vest, jacket] or accessories, and that seems to be her aesthetic, too. But what I'm missing is the base that she's perfected. From the looks of it, there are several things I need desperately:
- The perfect white T [x 5]
- The perfect khaki trousers
- The perfect summer blouse
- Shimmering neutrals
- To put on some damn heels
At least I know my jacket obsession is not for nothing! But I really need tips for petite-friendly trousers and T's... please share if you have them!
Tell me, what do you wear to work? Have you ever had an awkward fashion moment with a boss?

those sound like good staples to get for the office. i guess you shoud try to wear a blazer/light sweater if you're showing your legs and if you are showing arms, cover the legs. makes it look less "bare." you're probably right, she seems like she was maybe trying to suggest something subtly or she wouldn't have said a little bare-not that i care. makes me so glad i don't work in the fashion industry anymore-although i know it has good moments.
OMG this blog post is amazing I'm obsessed with you!
Love, KB
Her outfits are great & I think are perfect for work & going out! For me, it depends on where I'm working - sometimes I'll be all dressed up & other places I'll be more casual.
I know EXACTLY what you mean about petite friendly things. I try thrift stores and I get lucky most of the time, but I'm still on the hunt for the perfect pair of trousers. I found two at Goodwill that I love but they need to be tailored. haha.
Lovely blog btw!
She has a very effortless chic style.. very pretty
effortlessly chic.. now that im beginning to enter the workforce, i dont think my current wardrobe is apt for it. really need to invest on trousers and modest skirts! :D

That first outfit is safer than a sundress! You're totally right. I get cautious on windy days, even with the most secure sundresses. So, I don't wear those to work. I usually wear jeans and a long-sleeved tee. Not too interesting, I suppose.
:)
Best wishes from one blogger to another,

I really love the second and fourth outfits. The fourth inspires me to do something really casual chic.

loove these outfits! :) xx
These are all so great! When I substitute teach, I tend to wear nice pants with a blouse. I also work as a sales associate at Express, though, so that's where I am a little bit more free with what I wear. I tend to wear mini skirts & cute tops, or dresses.
