1. Is this American Apparel or am I in a 80's nightmare?
I've never been a big fan of this hipster-basics-headquarters (and apparently I'm not the only one--rumor has it they may soon be facing bankruptcy), but I did think at least their v-necks were soft. Now that I walk past the store every single day to and from work, whenever I catch a glimpse of their window display I find myself thinking, WHY? Why God, why? What do people find alluring about this place? The excess of polyester pants? The ill-fitting "trendy" model tanks? The seersucker bloomers? I just don't get it. If they can't even make their mannequins look good, how is it a good idea for real life humans? And how are your legs not sweating?
2. LF Stores, can you please clean your room?
Again, a polyester war zone... this time reincarnated into my mother's worst nightmare--a habitually dirty room. Is it supposed to be exciting sifting through piles of crap strewn across tables and shoved into bookcases? Although it's initially tempting because every piece looks so fashion-blogger-cool, I suddenly realize this top I tugged out from underneath a pile of rumpled crap is a $110 polyester concoction that has likely played the role of a mop at some point. And another thing... if you weren't already suspicious enough, the fact that they mark the WHOLE ENTIRE store 60% off once a season means their mark-ups have to be out of this world.
I know I had other things to bring up, but they're escaping me at the moment. At least one person agrees with me on this AA thing--anyone else feel the same? What fashionable things make you crazy?

hehe i agree with what you said about the AA display! i think fashion goes a bit too far sometimes!
that's a bad window display, they could do better. you are totally right about everything on this post! enjoy your weekend!
I agree with you on both accounts. Every time I browse AA, I feel like if I actually wore anything in there, I would look like I was playing a practical joke on...myself. I have a friend whose style I think is terrible (bless her heart) and of course, she is an avid AA shopper.
And LF is just always a mess, you're right.
I'm actually very glad AA might be facing bankruptcy soon. Do not like their store.
you are so right about the LF stores. I can't even shop in there b/c it's so messy and overcrowded w/clothes. And the prices are so high and of course then I get the email for 60% off the store. Oh well!
argh, that second picture is just gross... i wouldn't touch anything in that pile. weird price strategy too!
both stores absolutely horrify me.
period.

i like AA for their basics, but their window display is pretty sad looking.
and the LF store...oh my, where to begin...they're either understaffed or someone isn't doing their job!

wow! i thought I was the only one that felt that way about American Apparel...haha. great blog! :)

yeah AA is going bankrupt!
no one buys that weird stuff haha x
American Apparel could do much better than that :(
Personally, I've never caught on to the AA hype. Over-priced, and I've never had good customer service. One store I could live without!
omg! i didn't know that the actual stores were that horrendous! geez!
Totally agree! The LF one looks horrendous!

1. The colors are AWFUL... I don't think I would want to be seen anywhere in that yellow/green combo. sigh.
I've never been to LF, but my walmart used to be really bad. And judging from the pictures... wow...
fab post!!! :) x
haha, I only like AA for their tights and socks, weather appropriate of course!
hi again!
Response to your eyeshadow question: my favorite eyeshadow would have to be from Clinique and L'Oreal! I've tried like a BILLION eyeshadows (Shiseido, Urban Decay, Hot Topic, Two Faced, Estee Lauder, etc. etc.) and those are my two favorite so far. They're great for everyday wear and aren't too sparkly and shimmery (that is, I always go for the more matte and or ones with just a tiny TINY hint of shimmer)
Love,
Sherry
AA has always been styled very 80s but I think they have their place for accessible basics. I've never been to lf but that is a mess..
i am so agree with that, now how can AA compete with the uber stylish high street fashion house ZARA and Mango?
i love your blog. following you now.

Oh god .. i walked into LF the other day and walked right back out. Their 60% off sale makes the store pure mayhem.
