monday funday: summer loving

I've been extremely nostalgic lately for the trip I took to Paris last summer. It was right after graduating, and we stayed for 10 days.

About the same time this year, I'm easing back into the work week after an early morning flight that sent me straight from Florida to the office. I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't be amazing to be dropped off somewhere sunny and beautiful for a week, a month, or the entire summer. Cannes, perhaps? That's why I'm in love with these series of photos by Baron Wells (via size too small).

I miss the beautiful streets, flower markets, and fresh pain au chocolat... Maybe it was a silly idea to book my big summer getaway in September--I'm going a little stir crazy!

monday funday: peekaboo!

I have a new addiction brewing after stumbling across Trendy Crew last night [eek!], but what I really wanted to talk about is a new trend I've been eyeing. The beginning of summer is prompting lots of playful peekaboos. I see it as an evolution of the playful bare/not-bare sock/stocking trend:

It's actually something I started to think about a few weeks ago when I saw this photo on Chictopia:

And the evidence is quickly mounting...

I particularly like the mesh bottom of the skirt, or the long-sleeved T under a blazer--what a way to sneak in some almost-too-naughty-peeks at work!

monday funday: happy memorial day!

I'm very sad to see the weekend end. It was a great having my parents here--we walked around the city a ton, ate lots of good food, and drank just enough good wine.

Today we celebrated Memorial Day by heading to the USS Iwo Jima [above] that was docked on the Hudson River off 47th street for Fleet Week. Standing in the blazing sun for an hour waiting to get on was pretty brutal, but then my dad was like a kid again.

Of course, the problem with fun weekends is they aren't terribly relaxing!! Luckily, though, it's only a 4-day week. Phew.

monday funday: vacation dreaming

I've discovered I have a hard time coming to terms with the endlessness of the work-weekend-work-weekend routine. While it's probably not the best to start dreaming about vacations when Monday rolls around, it does make me feel a lot better about starting the week.

I'm trying to figure out what my summer hurrah will be... Copenhagen or Barcelona? I gave myself [and the boy] those two choices pretty arbitrarily. I think they're totally different, but I really can't decide which I prefer! What do you guys think? Have you ever been to either place?
